Adjusting your chair

How do I adjust my chair?

For help with adjusting your chair, please see the instruction videos that are posted on each product page where your specific chair is listed.

Can I visit a local facility for assistance?

Yes, you can. You can contact us for making an appointment and receive the information about the costs for this service.

Can someone visit me for work place improvement?

Yes, it is possible if one of our local specialists is present in your region. You can contact us for making an appointment and receive the information about the costs for this service.

I lost/gained weight - how do I adjust my chair?

If you lost/gained weight only the Dynamic should be re-adjusted.
The Dynamic has a weight knob at the front under the seat. After loosening this knob you can shift it up (for a lighter setting) or down (for a heavier setting). For further help, please, consult our instruction video.

Can my colleague use my chair too?

The ComfortMove, the CorrectSit and the ErgoSolex models can be used by your colleague, as long as this person is not significantly taller or shorter.
With the Dynamic, both the height and the weight matter. It is advisable to re-adjust the weight settings for each user. The Dynamic has a weight knob at the front under the seat. After loosening this knob you can shift it up (for a lighter setting) or down (for a heavier setting).

The chair is too low, can that be fixed?

Yes, that is possible, Please, measure your current gas cylinder, which has one of the following heights: 19, 23, 28, 31 or 37 cm. Contact our customer service via the Service and Repair form to request a new cylinder that is higher than your current gas cylinder. On the Service and Repair form you can also find a link where you can download an instruction of how to exchange gas cylinders. See "Dismantling Dynamic".

The seat does not tilt upward anymore, how can I solve this?

There could be two reasons why the seat won't tilt:

  1. The weight might be set too heavy. Try to lower the knob at the front under the seat.
  2. If that does not solve the problem, it could be that one of the springs inside the mechanism is broken. In that case, please fill out a Service and Repair form. We will pick up the stool and repair it in our warehouse.

I slide off the seat, what is the reason?

Dynamic: Does the seat tilt backward enough? If not: adjust the weight knob at the front under the seat (loosen, shift it to a higher level and tighten again). Some models of the CorrectSit and the ErgoSolex have a seat tilt that can be adjusted with the handle on the left side of the seat. Set the seat to a more backward tilted angle. The ComfortMove has an automatic built-in seat tilt. This automatic tilt only works if you are properly seated deep in in the seat. If you sit on the tip of the chair, or even half way in the middle of the seat, the seat tilts forward and you may slide off. If you seat deap in the chair with the back rest supporting your spine, the seat tilt works properly and you won't slide off - instead: you will enjoy proper posture support that the chair is designed and famous for.

Other reasons:
  • Slippery clothing, like silk or nylon, can cause sliding as well.
  • Worn or hardened upholstery due to the wrong cleaning detergents that contain alcohol. In that case, the seat needs to be replaced.

How do I raise the back support when the highest setting is too low?

Please, contact us to determine whether your back support is indeed too low or that something else might be the case.
If the back support turns out be too low for you, we can supply an extended back support.

The lumbar support of my Dynamic chair keeps coming forward, how do I solve it??

Most probably there is a defect in the back plate, which causes the little knob on the lumbar support to refuse to click-in anymore. This is easy to fix and replace by yourself. Please go to our home page and fill out a Service and Repair form.

How can I order a chair?

You can use our online Order Form to purchase a chair or you can contact us by phone directly to place your order.

How long should I wait for the delivery?

The delivery time depends on the colour of your chair. If you have chosen standard black, then the delivery time is 1-4 weeks. If another colour is chosen the delivery time varies from 4 till 6 weeks.

Will you send me an invoice first?

You will receive the invoice after the delivery. If you wish to receive it before the delivery, please, let us know about it.

Why do you need to know my height and weight?

We make an ergonomic product and customizing is key for a perfect fit. Based on the information about your height and weight we can put the right chair for you together.

What does 450/550N mean?

These are the numbers that matter for the Dynamic chair. The N stands for Newton and corresponds with the resistance of the mechanism that causes the seat to tilt together with your weight shift. Heavier people need heavier mechanisms. Our lightest mechanism is 350N, our heaviest - 650N, but most common are 450N and 550N.

My first chair had a sleeve around the spring, my new chair doesn't. Why?

We now supply the sleeve (gas cylinder cover) when specifically requested. If you make this known to us at the time of placing your order, we will include it to your order at no extra charge. If you would like to specially order the sleeve only the shipping cost will be charged.

Are your models only available through direct sales?

No, we have many dealers and representatives. Please see our dealer page to find a local reseller or contact us for more information.

Parts

Do you also have a chair without back support?

No we don't. It is our strong believe that for prolonged and pain-free sitting back support is a must.

How high can the chair go?

We can deliver the stools with different gas cylinders. You can find more information about the heights on the product page of each chair.

How do I know which gas cylinder height I should choose?

The perfect height for you is determined by your own body height combined with the height of your work surface. We can deliver the stools with different gas cylinders. Please see the technical information page for detailed information. You can find this page under the product section of each chair.

Is black wheelbase less strong than a chrome wheelbase?

No, both are equally strong, as long as they are used properly, meaning: equal weight distribution on all the 5 wheels.

Can I order a smaller wheelbase?

Yes you can, but we need to warn you that it will make the chair significantly less stable.

Can you custom fit a chair for me?

Depending on your wishes, yes, we can. Please contact us by email or by phone to discuss the options.

Upholstery

Which colours are available?

We can deliver just about any colour you wish for. Please search on the product pages of each chair (under the 'upholstery' tab) for colour samples.

Can I match the colour of my new chair to my existing unit

In many cases that is possible.
It would be helpful if you could tell us what manufacturer made your unit, and perhaps find out the product code of the upholstery by calling the manufacturer before contacting us. They often can provide you the colour code they used. That way we know for sure that we are working with the same colour and material.
We also can mail you an original colour chart, you can match the colour as closely as possible and return the colour chart back to us.

Can I supply you with my own upholstery material?

Yes, that is possible if the material you provide is suitable. It would be best to contact us by phone first and send us a small sample which we can have checked out by our upholsterer.

Can I order my chair in leather?

Yes, leather is possible. You would need to supply the leather yourself. Contact our customer service to discuss how much material is needed.

Can I order a chair without upholstery?

No, that is not possible.

Can I have my own supplier do the upholstery?

We strongly do not recommend this, because replacing the upholstery will damage the foam of the cushion.

Which chairs have stitched and which seamless upholstery?

Only one of our models - the ComfortMove- has seamless upholstery for the seat
The back supports of CM models can also be delivered seamless with some upholsteries. Please, contact our customer service to discuss the options.

Can the Dynamic chair be made seamless?

No, it is not possible to make a seamless seat or lumbar support for the Dynamic.

Can the Dynamic be made in fabric instead of vinyl?

Yes, that is possible. Please contact us to discuss the options.

Why is it better not to upholster the Dynamic with Trendline/Kavo?

Trendline/Kavo materials are too slippery and can cause sliding down from the chair.

Wheels and Accessories

Do you supply arm rests?

Yes, we do. Each chair can be delivered with arm rests. We have several models which you can all find on the product pages under the 'accessories' tab.
It is also possible to mount the arm rests later on your BQE stool. Please contact our customer service to discuss the options.

Can I add arm rests to my chair later?

If you already have a BQE chair you can mount the arm rests on it later. Please contact our customer service to discuss the options.

Do you have a foot control?

Yes, we do. Every chair can be equipped a foot control. If you already own a chair and would like to add a foot control to it, that is possible too. You would need to bring or send the chair to our technical department. Please contact our customer service to discuss procedures and pricing.

Do you have a foot ring?

Yes, a foot ring can be installed on every chair.

Which wheels should I choose?

It depends on the type of the floor.
The interval braked wheels (the brakes block the wheels when carrying no weight, but they roll freely when you seat on the stool) are the safest. These wheels could cause damage to your floor. The free rolling wheels are more gentle on your floor.

Can the wheels be braked?

We do supply interval braked wheels - the brakes block the wheels when there is no weight on them, and roll freely when you seat on the stool.

Can I order a chair without wheels?

Yes, we can deliver the stool with the sliding feet (small flat bases) instead of the wheels.

Maintenance

What is the best way to clean my chair?

If your chair has vinyl upholstery, then it is best to clean it with water and a mild soap. It is okay to use a soft brush. Do NOT use any detergents that contain alcohol. It will deteriorate the material and the stitched seams. Damage to you chair due to harmful cleaning materials is not covered under our warranty policy.

How can I best maintain my chair?

For more information on how to maintain your chair best, please see the "maintenance" section under every product.

How should I clean the wheels?

You can clean the wheels with water and a mild soap. It is impossible to remover the wheel caps, but you can also use a soft brush to clean the gap between the wheel caps and the wheels.

Do you sell appropriate cleaning detergents?

Yes, we do. If not in your area, we can direct you to another reseller that does.

Can I use a seat cover?

We do not recommend this because it will cause you to slide off.

Do you offer a maintenance contract?

We do not offer such a service at the moment.

Technical Questions

How do I replace my seat?

To replace the seat, all you need is a Philips screw driver. Under 'Customer Service' you can find a document with the instructions on how to replace your seat.

How do I attach the arm rests?

It is very easy to mount the arm rests to your chair.
Comfort Move: slide the metal end piece in the sleeve under the seat, and tighten with the knob.
All other models: mount a connection piece on the mechanism of your chair (when the stool is ordered with armrests the connection piece is already mounted), slide the metal end piece in the sleeves under the seat, and tighten with the knob.

How do I replace the gas cylinder?

Under 'Customer Service' 'Service and Repair' you can download the document 'Dismantling Dynamic' with the instructions on how to replace a gas-cylinder.

My Dynamic seat seems too wide, do you also have a narrower seat?

First let's check what type of seat you currently have. If you look at the backside of the seat, you will find a gold-coloured sticker with technical information. There you'll find a serial number. If this number contains a B, you have the wide seat. If this number contains an S you have the narrow seat. If your chair has the B seat (wide), we can exchange it for you (contact our customer service). If you have the S version (narrow), we do not have a smaller seat, but perhaps a different model would be a good solution for a better fit (for instance the ErgoSolex).

Can I have my chair re-upholstered?

Re-upholstery is not possible. During removal of the material the upper layer of the foam gets damaged. We can deliver the new upholstery sets (including the new foam parts) and you can replace them yourself.

My chair is too low, how can I make it go higher?

The solution is to exchange your current gas cylinder for a higher one. Please measure your current gas cylinder. Contact our customer service via the "Service and Repair" form to request a new cylinder that is one size taller than your current gas cylinder. On this same 'Service and Repair' form you can also find a link where you can download the instruction on how to exchange the gas cylinders.

Service and Repair

My chair is broken, can I have it fixed?

In most cases we are able to repair the product. Your chair will be picked up for evaluation and we will notify you about the costs of the repairs.

How much will the repair cost?

After hearing your description of the problem we often are able to diagnose the problem, and estimate the costs. Then after receiving your chair in our workshop, our technician will perform a second evaluation on site. If the estimated costs of repair turn out to be higher than what we quoted you initially, we will contact you before doing any work - no surprises for you.

When will I have my repaired chair back?

Depending on the carrier, you will have your chair back in 1-2 weeks.

Can I bring the chair in for repair myself?

On appointment you can deliver your chair to the following address: IJzerwerf 46, 2544ES, The Hague, The Netherlands.

Can another party repair my chair?

We do not recommend this. If you decide to do so, our warranty policy does not cover the expenses.

Can I replace the wheels myself if broken?

Yes, that is easy. You need to pull the wheels out of the base. If needed, use a screw driver to lift the wheels out of their socket and use a little WD-40, or oil before pushing the new wheels into the base.

The handle is broken, can you replace it?

We can send you a replacement handle. Please submit the 'Repair" form that you can find under 'Customer Service' and be specific which handle it is you need to be replaced.

The stitches are worn, can you re-upholster the chair?

Re-upholstery is not possible. During removal of the material the upper layer of the foam gets damaged.We can deliver the new upholstery sets (including the new foam parts) and you can replace them yourself.

My chair won't go up or down anymore - what's wrong?

Most likely this is caused by a defect of the gas-cylinder. We can exchange it for a new one. If this happened within the first three years after purchase it is covered under our warranty policy. On our home page, under "Customer Service", you can download the "Repair Form" to report this defect.

Each morning I find the chair in its highest position, why is this?

I can hear a click in the wheels, what causes that?

You can resolve this by taking the wheels out of their sockets (use a screw driver to lift, if needed) and dress the wheel-pin in acid-free Vaseline. If this does not solve the problem, please contact us. Under "Customer Service" you can fill in the "Repair Form" to report this defect.

You receive your invoice by mail after receiving your chair.

Can I pay in instalments?

Paying in instalments is an option that we can discuss. Please contact our customer service.

Do you require a down-payment?

Depending on the situation we might require a down-payment.

Do you offer a discount on multiple orders?

Yes we do, starting with orders of 5 and more chairs

Do you charge a surcharge for custom colours?

Yes, we do: our standard colour is black, all other colours have an extra price of 75€. For the upholstery with several the surcharge is 125€.

Why is there a price difference between the Dynamic and the CorrectSit?

The Dynamic has an advanced and expensive automatic tilting mechanism, which is developed and patented by BQE. The CorrectSit has a manual tilt.

Is there a price difference between a black and a chrome wheelbase?

Yes, a chrome wheelbase costs 50€ more.

Do you charge sales tax?

We do, all prices are excl. sales tax (VAT). Please add 21% to your order to include sales tax.

Warranty

How long is the warranty on your chairs?

Three years. You can read more about it in the "Terms and Conditions" on the home page.

Is the upholstery covered under your warranty?

Yes, for the duration of three years. Ripples or fabric-folds are not covered under our warranty policy. You can read more about it in the "Terms and Conditions" on the home page.

What is covered when the warranty period is over?

We will do everything within our power to help you and solve any problem, but you would be responsible for the cost involved.
